One of my resolutions for 2014 is to actually write on my blog and to learn how to use the damn thing.

Last year I got a lot of sewing done, not all of it successful.  Although most of happened in the middle of the year.  I got bitten by the Fibro Dragon, I had a Hugh flare up that took me most of the year to get through it.  Right as I was getting to my normal Fibro pain, I was in a car accident.  On Christmas Eve no less.  Yay....not.  But the accident inspired my second resolution which was to stop torturing myself.  I have pain meds to help with the pain, but I usually don't take them.  I wanted to get to know my pain so I could tell when I hit a pain/energy wall.  I didn't want to over due it.  In 2014, my attitude will be screw it, why be in terrible pain if I don't have to.  Resolution number 3 is to plan my projects better.  My head is full of projects I want to complete, but I kept forgetting what I wanted to do and what fabric or yarn I wanted to do it in.  Of course I have to add a weight loss resolution, cause I probably should.  I'm not really motivated, but what the hell, a change in my diet might help with my pain. If it works great if not, well I'll be thinner.

I plan to blog about once a month, adding my fails and successes.  I'll plan to add what I'm reading as well.  Why?  Why the hell not?

Well, happy sewing!

Total loss!

Okay, I'm gonna work on the blog more diligently.  I've officially turned my kitchen into a sewing room.  Since my attached room,(officially called the collection room, cause my Barbie collection used to be in there) is my office, I move from taxes and skirts.  It's a crazy mess!  But, I don't care.  I'm sewing.

Recent news I bought a Husqvarna Viking Tribute 140c.  It was on sale because it was last years model, either way it cost a fortune.  I'm having so much fun with it.  I'm still learning how to use it and my sewing is super slow, slower then normal anyway.  I'll add some pics of soon.  For now, I'm having a staring contest with a quilt that has been in my UFO pile for months.  We'. See how that works out!  Tata for now.

A Star was Born!

I like to call myself the Kitchen Seamstress for a very simple reason.  My sewing room is the in the kitchen.  I've been married for half of my life.  I have two daughters, one 19 and one 17.  I also live with 2 Guinnea Pigs, 1 Chinchilla, 1 Bearded Dragon and 8 Hamsters.  Yep I have a pretty full house!

I started sewing about 15 years ago, just so I could make minor adjustments to clothes.  13 years ago, I developed Fibromyalgia and had to quit work.  I wasn't as mobile as I used to be, but I was used moving around.  I had to come up with a way to keep my mind busy during those times where my body was out of commission.  I bought out my crochet hooks and my collection of books.  I started crocheting and reading anything I could get my hands on.  One day I found an old book on learning to quilt.  I read it and though.t I could do that.  I had basic sewing skills and an old machine, so I just went for it.  And I got hooked!  Then I figured, what the heck try to sew something other then quilts.  A a star was born!
